Founded from Righteous Anger
“Righteous anger is never founded in fear. It’s founded in love. It's the inheritance some of us may know as the 'divine feminine;' the anger that the old Goddesses unleashed upon the world to destroy and create anew. It's about being seen for who you really are, and it's the birthright of everyone who has been made less than. Western culture leashes it intentionally."
- Dr. Morgana McCabe Allan, Unbecoming
The more I read, research, and pay attention to the stories of women [past and present], the Goddess mythologies, structures where the matriarchy was/is revered, and so on...the more it is obvious:
Really, so much of what we deem as "health" or "morality" or "good," are all really systems to control.
There is nothing wrong with feeling rage, with feeling anger. Yet, we've been taught that - especially as mothers and good women - rage is wrong. Rage manifesting into depression and perceived helplessness can be "fixed."
You cannot fix what's already within a broken system. You must build anew. That's Kali energy. That's a call to Maa Durga.
That’s a remembering that YOU (and me) do not need to be “fixed,” because you aren’t broken. The brokenness is a lie. There is nothing wrong with any of us who feel a charged emotion. In fact, we need to learn how to express it, alchemize, and work with our anger, rage, frustration, fears, and so on.
What we DO NOT discuss as a collective is how fertility challenges, pregnancy, birth, and postpartum are all a door.
For many, once that door is open - it feels like CHAOS.
What are these thoughts?
Why is this so hard?
Why are my instincts minimized?
Where did this rage come from?
Why am I anxious or angry?
Why does my body hurt?
What this doorway really is: a pathway to transformation, your transmutation and that of a culture...that is, if you'll move past the threshold.
This is what we unpack in Afterglow, now a 12 week group mentorship experience. Afterglow isn't a program to teach you how to be a mother or how to give birth or how to heal postpartum. Because that would still be giving you a system that might work for one person, but doesn't work for another (also…does anyone really know how to be a mother in the early years?? I’m learning everyday).
Instead, it's a gateway into permission, belonging, self-love, and self-trust, using the tools of yoga therapy, Ayurveda, and mythology. It’s a space to not only know cognitively and logically that I am WHOLE and SAFE and a REVERENT being, but to also feel that in your body. It’s a place to heal the body with physical movement practices, but also heal the heart, connect with the Soul, release and renew. To redefine womanhood, motherhood, parenthood, working motherhood, and so on.
It’s an honoring of the uniqueness that is you.
Whenever we are handed a “system” or “protocol” or “treatment” that is rinsed and repeated for the masses, we need to realize that it doesn’t necessarily work for ALL. That’s true in business, health, parenting, education, and so on.
What’s missing in this approach is an honoring of the individual’s unique situation - her current body, her past states of dis-ease or injury, her environment, her desires, her stressors, her fears, her spiritual and/or religious preferences. This all matters. This is the work of yoga therapy and Ayurveda - to witness you as a whole being.
Afterglow is breaking harmful generational patterns that have left women and mothers feeling alone, neglected, not heard, and not seen. It was built from alchemizing my own righteous anger. Anger about systems that disconnect us from our bodies and wisdoms, perhaps purposefully, and pathologize the transformation that is underway rather than embracing it.
You are the disruption. You are ensuring that healing begins in your family system, changing the trajectory for you, your children and grandchildren.
If you’d like to read more about Afterglow, please go here. It’s a brand new page to share what we do inside the mentorship! I’ll be opening Afterglow for a fall cohort and would love to talk to you about it.
Jai Ma.
With love,
Leanne
P.S. If you’d like to talk further about Afterglow, please schedule some time to connect with me one on one (completely free). You will never be pressured to make a decision on the call, but rather to decide if this mentorship is right for your needs or not. Right now, for anyone who would like to join for the fall, I’m honoring the previous 8 week rate. This mentorship will be 12 weeks in total, and the investment will reflect that as we move later in the season.
Read more about Afterglow here and the experiences of those who’ve been in/are on the journey! From this link, you can also schedule one on one time to connect with me about your prenatal and postpartum needs. Looking forward to sipping tea together.
