How to know if there’s too much “air” element in your body

AIR. We are a society that's wildly imbalanced when it comes to the air element, known as Vayu in Ayurveda. After a deep dive into Vayu during the Living Lush mentorship last week, I took some notes about our conversations.

As a collective:

We are scattered. Flighty. Anxious. Constantly in fear about the future and attempting to control it.
We've lost our sense of curiosity, and have an inability to listen to voices and perspectives that might challenge our own.
We've forgotten that we are inherently creative beings. And, that we have the power to build anew.
We withhold love, and may not even know how to love unconditionally.

Physically in our movement practices, we value speed, strength, flexibility, and intensity over range of motion, fluidity, and nourishment.

Does any of the above sound like you? We are imbalanced as a whole. And, then when you couple this excess air with an excess of FIRE in our culture - aka efforting/pushing/achievement/productivity - what happens?

An uncontrollable burn. It's happening literally and figuratively right now. Remember, Ayurveda shares that the micro is the macro and vice versa. Remember, the micro (you/me) reflects the macro (the collective, country, world), and how you are responding and taking care of your vessel matters.

So, what does it mean to be balanced in the air element, vayu?

AIR is mobile. She's light, she's curious and creative. Yet, Air is centered, aware, and observant. She doesn’t blame or shame or ridicule. She doesn’t play the victim. She knows her power and recognizes that she has the force to move - i.e. winds (Vayu is translated as the wind). She allows love to flow. In the body, she shows up as good circulation, nerve responses and range of motion (cracking + popping joints, gassiness, and more reflect an imbalance of Air element).

What do you think? Are you balanced or imbalanced in AIR?

There’s so much more to say on the topic. We go deep into the elements and our layers of being (the Koshas) in the Living Lush mentorship, allowing them to support our healing and getting to know ourselves better. It’s been a phenomenal and enlightening two weeks so far inside this mentorship.

To heal, you must learn embodiment, to be in the body. The end. While Living Lush won’t open again for enrollment until 2022, Narrative will and I’m bringing in some fabulous guest teachers to study with as we grow, shift, and adapt to the needs of the moment. I’m excited to share when enrollment opens again, how it will be different, and all the practices you’ll receive to feel fully nourished while allowing yourself to study how the elements show up in your own body.

As always, I love hearing from you. Are you experiencing too much air??

With love,
Leanne
